New Bead Crochet Rope
Primer
While
participating in national conferences this summer, I met several people that are new to
bead crochet that are having a problem with hook placement when crocheting in the round to
create crochet ropes. Here is a bead crochet primer to address that problem.
My new Bead Crochet Rope Primer describes hook
placement in detail. If you are having problems with your crochet ropes, visit my Lessons section and select the left or right-handed version of the Primer.
New Inside Bead Crochet
Here is where I keep you up to date on what is going on in the Bead Crochet World.
In my latest issue you will find a report on this year's Chain Link 2000 and on the first
Crochet Renaissance.
I also provide information on Chain Link 2001, Bead Expo 2001 and my newest bead crochet
class - Heirloom Tassels. I invite all my bead crochet friends to join me at Bead
Expo 2001 and learn to make beautiful Heirloom Tassels.
New Show & Tell
In the Bead Crochet Gallery you will find a new Show & Tell section with some
unusual bead crochet items. While there, also check out The Sedona Collection for some great ideas
on crochet ropes.
New Bugle Rope Workshop
In the Bead Crochet Workshop you will find 6 free
workshops including the new Bugle Rope.
Tips & Techniques
New items on Fiber Beads, Beaded Beads, Carrying Loose Thread and Ways to Find your 1st
Stitch in a Crochet Round. You will also find several items posted earlier. Visit Tips & Techniques at beadcrochet dot com.
Sedona Lariat Kit
My newest kit, the third in The Sedona
Collection, was a hit at Chain Link 2000 and Crochet Renaissance. You can create
your own Sedona Lariat in a
wide range of color choices. You can choose from all the Beadwrangler Seed Bead
Mixes as well as 20 beautiful solid colors. Lariats are becoming very popular.
So make your own lariat now before your friends find theirs at the mall.
Holiday Gifts
Speaking of shopping, you will find terrific gifts here at beadcrochet dot com as well as
at my Online Shop - 7 Echoes. The Shiloh Ropes kit contains the
materials and patterns for making three bead crochet key chains in three completely
different colors. These beautiful crocheted key chains would normally retail for
$30 each. With the Shiloh
Ropes kit you can make them for less that $5.00 each. Plus you get an
instruction booklet that includes patterns for several other bead crochet projects
including a lariat. Beads and beading kits make great gifts for your beady friends.
Good News...Bad News
Section
While all of my costs have gone up every month, I have kept my prices on everything steady
for 5 years. I finally have to make an adjustment. However, it is very small.
Effective January 1, 2001 the price of the Sedona Chic and the Sedona Ridge kits
will go up $1 to $17.95. Size 11/0 seed beads will be $4.50/hank (25¢ increase) and
size 8/0 and 6/0 seed beads will be $3.50/tube (25¢ increase). Ordering in groups
of 8 will reduce your cost to below this year's prices.
As you may have heard, postal rates are
going up next year. Also our packing costs have grown over the years. So,
effective January 1, 2001 our minimum shipping cost will be $4.50. That is still
the lowest among those that ship the variety of items that we do that require special
packing to insure that your order arrives safe and sound.
That's it! So much for the bad
news.
The Good News is that the prices on
everything else (books, kits, needles, thread, tools, etc) stays the same as it has been
for the last 5 years. That's because we work hard for you to keep prices as low as
possible.
And the additional good news is that we
will continue to amaze you with how fast your order arrives from the time you press the
SEND button on your order form. Keep sending me your email about how fast your order
arrived. I want to keep track of shipping times and your feedback is greatly
appreciated.
New Stuff at Beadwrangler's Bead and Fiber Junction
This is my really BIG website (over 1,000 pages) where you will find lots of information
about beads and fiber.
New Workshops at Beadwrangler's

Just in time for the
holidays, a great little beaded bracelet workshop. A friend, daughter or grand-daughter
would love one of these. Check out Bead Chain Jewelry - my newest
workshop.
Another holiday project - Tree of Life - shows you how to wrap a
wire tree which can then be used for lots of decorative ideas.
If
you have been following my bead samplers in BeadWork Magazine and at Beadwrangler.com,
you'll know that the latest sampler is an example of Bead Netting.
However, what you might not know is that I recently added a little application for the Square Stitch Sampler.
Do you like stories? There is a new
story in my Stories Section - The Brown Bear. This is a tale
that my grandmother told over and over and she swore that it was true.
All the Insider Reports have been recently
updated:
- Inside the Beadwrangler - Find
out what's going on with the Beadwrangler, 2W, Max and Grunt
- Inside Beads - What's new in the bead
world, results from the Beadwrangler Testing Laboratory and much more.
- Inside Threads - A treasure trove of
information about the kinds of threads that beaders and crocheters use.
- Inside Dolls - Another one of my
passions.
- Inside Miniatures - Another
fascination of mine.
- Inside Purses - As a cataloger of
antique purses for museums, I accumulate a lot of information about beaded purses that I
like to share with my website visitors.
If you use beads in your work, then you
need to know a little about Glass Beads
and Their Makers, another regular feature at Beadwrangler's
Surfing with Sylvia written by Sylvia Sur
of the Los Angeles Bead Society (their webmistress as a matter of fact). Her latest
article on bead crochet ropes inspired by Bulgarian beadwork techniques is posted.
You will also find all of her previous articles archived here dating all the way back to
March 1997!
The latest Ask Barb by Barbara Grainger is
now posted. Barb is an expert on peyote beading techniques. However, her
latest article is about - guess what? - bead crochet!
In addition, when you visit
Beadwrangler's, you find recent updates to the following:
Several publishers have recently sent me
their latest offerings in the bead and fiber areas; so, I will have many new book reviews
appearing in the next few weeks. If you are interested in keeping up to date on
newly published books in the bead and fiber areas, mark the Beadwrangler Book Center as a
bookmark (favorite) and check it out every few weeks. The Beadwrangler Book Center
is also a great place to shop for gifts. Most books listed there have a direct link
to amazon.com and they usually offer a substantial discount off the cover price.
New Stuff at 7 Echoes - my online shop
Beads Galore!!! I am now showing
over 250 beads on the Seed Bead Pages.
Have you ordered Beadwrangler seed beads yet? Many people tell me that they are the
finest beads they have ever owned. Want to see the newest bead maker
creations? Check the Beadwrangler Seed
Bead Pages.
More choices now on the Wire Page including Soft Touch Wire.
On the Needles Page you will find a complete
selection of beading needles and twisted wire needles for bead crochet including long
needles for use with you bead spinner in three different grades - fine, medium and heavy.
A new selection of beading tools including pliers, cutters and
crimping tools.
A
most amazing collection of kits. Most of my kits range from $14.95 to
$24.95. Comparable kits from other sources range from $50.00 to $100.00. And
many times those higher priced kits don't include all of the supplies, detailed
instructions for options and complete patterns for other related projects. And the Beadwrangler is only an
email away when you need assistance. Do I answer my email? Just check the rave
reviews on all the chat rooms. Many people have told me that they learned new
techniques that they have struggled with for years by making the main project in one of my
kits. My goal is to teach techniques. My kits are the best way I have found
to do that. Learn new techniques and create something beautiful at the same
time. Try a Beadwrangler kit.
There are over 370 to choose from!
I expect to receive
information about Chain Link 2001 in Sacramento soon.
I will pass it along when I receive it.
That's it for now. Talk
